“I Was An American Spy” on TCM

I Was an American Spy is going to air on Turner Classic Movies on Thursday, April 9th at 2pm PST.

If  you’ve never seen I Was an American Spy, there’s a couple of things it has going for it. It’s one of the few films where Ann Dvorak is the star of the picture and it’s seldom shown on Turner Classic Movies. It was an Allied Artists production, which means it was on the lower budget side, but it’s still enjoyable enough. How can one not like a film that has this much Ann in it?

Enjoy!

I dvr’ed and will watch this weekend. Looking forward to it, have only seen it once before when TCM featured Ann in Summer Under the Stars a few years back.

Loved your report on the festival. I even forgive you for not mentioning the fabulous Ellen Drew as co-star of Christmas in July. What, you’ve never seen Nightmare Alley! Oops, take that back. I ain’t one of those “old movie wierdos”, Christina. For fans of film noir, though, it’s like a Citizen Kane or Gone With the Wind or……..you get the idea.

Glad you had a great time. Maybe in my retirement I’ll get a chance to attend one of these festivals, and get a chance to meet Ann’s biographer.

I guess I consider my self more an appreciator of film noir as opposed to a rabid fan. Seeing it for the first time in a packed theater was great and Eddie Mueller who introduced it was delighted that 80% of the crowd was also seeing it for the first time. A memorable experience.
