{"id":1746,"date":"2013-01-27T09:00:09","date_gmt":"2013-01-27T17:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.anndvorak.com\/cms\/?p=1746"},"modified":"2013-01-25T22:47:19","modified_gmt":"2013-01-26T06:47:19","slug":"dvdless-dvorak-films-part-9-a-life-of-her-own","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anndvorak.com\/cms\/dvdless-dvorak-films-part-9-a-life-of-her-own\/","title":{"rendered":"DVDless Dvorak Films, Part 9: A Life of Her Own"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Year of Ann Dvorak: Day 27<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.anndvorak.com\/cms\/Filmography\/?directory=Life%20of%20Her%20Own%20%281950%29&amp;currentPic=1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.anndvorak.com\/cms\/Filmography\/Life%20of%20Her%20Own%20(1950)\/Lana2.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"357\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.anndvorak.com\/cms\/Filmography\/?directory=Life%20of%20Her%20Own%20%281950%29&amp;currentPic=0\"><strong>A Life of Her Own<\/strong><\/a> is a film I have talked about on a few occasions so I won&#8217;t go into too much detail (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anndvorak.com\/cms\/a-life-of-her-own-on-tcm\/\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anndvorak.com\/cms\/divine-dvorak-death-scenes\/\">here<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anndvorak.com\/cms\/ann-dvorak-makes-tcms-list-of-10-great-overlooked-performances\/\">here<\/a>).\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s directed by George Cukor and stars Lana Turner and Ray Milland, which sounds great, but the film is actually a melodramatic turkey which I was only able to sit though once back in the fall of 1997.
